Generation Digital Partners with Canva to Bring One of the World's Most Used AI Tools Securely into the Enterprise
Claude
Inteligencia Artificial

Generation Digital has launched a new partnership with Canva to help enterprise and public sector organisations in the UK, US and Canada adopt Canva AI safely, securely and compliantly. As a Canva Certified Services Partner, we help organisations move off scattered, credit-card Canva accounts and onto one secure, cost-effective and compliant Canva Enterprise agreement, contracted directly with Generation Digital. We then set up brand, security and AI controls, connect Canva to Claude, and train people to get real value from Canva AI. Public sector buyers can buy Canva and our services through G-Cloud 15.
Key takeaways
Canva is one of the world's most used AI tools. It has about US$4 billion in annualised revenue and 265 million monthly active users, with 31 million paying (end of 2025). An a16z analysis ranks it the third most-used generative AI web product in the world, and AI use on Canva more than tripled in a year.
It's a consumer AI tool that's already inside your organisation. Canva says it is used by 95% of the Fortune 500. In most enterprises, much of that use runs on self-serve accounts paid for on credit cards, with no single sign-on, no brand control and no AI governance.
That makes it shadow AI. 71% of UK employees have used unapproved consumer AI tools at work (Microsoft UK, 2025).
The fix is one enterprise agreement. Moving onto Canva Enterprise adds SSO, admin and AI controls, audit logs and IP indemnity for AI output. It also replaces many separate card subscriptions with one compliant, cost-effective contract.
Canva and Claude work together. Canva is one of the top connectors in Claude, and it powers design in Claude Design by Anthropic Labs. Generation Digital is a partner of both, so we can connect them safely.
People are still the biggest unlock. Value comes from a strong sponsor, a brand system, clear AI guardrails, role-based training and champions.
Bringing a consumer AI favourite into the enterprise
When leaders talk about enterprise AI, they usually mean Claude, ChatGPT or Copilot. Yet one of the AI tools their people use most is one many don't think of as AI at all.
Canva calls itself the world's leading visual communication platform. The numbers back that up:
Revenue: about US$4 billion in annualised revenue at the end of 2025, according to co-founder and COO Cliff Obrecht. Business customers with more than 25 seats reportedly make up about US$500 million of that, and doubled in a year.
Users: about 265 million monthly active users, 31 million of them paying.
AI usage: the third most-used generative AI web product by monthly users (a16z, cited by Fortune). Canva says AI usage on its platform more than tripled in the past year.
Enterprise reach: used by 95% of the Fortune 500, according to Canva.
Canva is now positioning itself as an AI platform, not just a design tool. In April 2026 it launched Canva AI 2.0, an agentic platform that can take a brief and produce a complete, editable, on-brand campaign. It connects to tools like Slack, Gmail, Google Drive, Microsoft, Notion, Zoom, HubSpot and Atlassian. Canva has also bought Leonardo.ai, Simtheory and Ortto to build its own models and agent tools.
Canva became popular with consumers first, and its people brought it to work. Our job is to bring it into the enterprise properly.
The problem: self-serve accounts, credit card spend and shadow AI
Canva grew bottom-up. Someone in marketing, HR, sales or a regional office needed a presentation or a social post, signed up, and put it on a card. In a large organisation, this usually leaves:
Dozens or hundreds of separate Canva accounts, many tied to personal emails, with no single sign-on and no offboarding when people leave.
Spend hidden in expenses and card statements, invisible to IT and procurement, and often at list price.
No brand control. Old logos, wrong fonts and off-brand templates reach customers.
No AI governance. Nobody knows which AI features are in use, what company content is uploaded, or who owns the output.
This is shadow AI. A Microsoft UK study found that 71% of UK employees have used unapproved consumer AI tools at work and 51% do so every week. Over a quarter (28%) said it was because their employer doesn't provide an approved alternative. Banning the tools rarely works. Giving people a governed, better version does.
The fix: one secure, compliant Canva Enterprise agreement
Generation Digital moves organisations from self-serve accounts onto a Canva Enterprise agreement, contracted through us: one secure, cost-effective and compliant contract with full visibility of spend. According to Canva, Enterprise provides:
Single sign-on, SCIM provisioning and role-based access, so joiners and leavers are managed through your identity provider
Audit logs and an admin dashboard covering teams, permissions and usage
Canva Shield, Canva's AI trust, safety and privacy tools, including control over which teams can use AI features
IP indemnity for AI output for organisations with 100+ paid users, at no extra cost
Brand kits, brand templates and approval workflows that keep every design on brand
Canva's own enterprise services, such as a customer success manager, creative services and premium support. Access depends on the number of contracted seats.
The commercial case is usually as strong as the security case. You replace many card subscriptions with one contract, give procurement clear terms and full visibility of spend, and usually pay less per user than scattered list-price subscriptions.
Canva and Claude: the design layer for enterprise AI
Canva and Anthropic have one of the closest partnerships in enterprise AI, and it is central to how we help clients.
Canva connector in Claude: since July 2025, Claude users have been able to create, edit, resize and search Canva designs, and apply their Brand Kit, straight from a Claude conversation. Canva says millions of people have used Canva inside Claude, and it is one of the top connectors in Claude.
Canva in Claude Design: in April 2026, Canva brought its Design Engine and Visual Suite into Claude Design by Anthropic Labs. Drafts, presentations and interactive content made in Claude become fully editable, on-brand Canva designs.
Claude for Small Business: Canva is a launch partner. Small businesses can turn a brief into branded campaign assets in Canva, directly from Claude.
Rising demand: Canva reports that the number of signed-in users connecting Canva to an AI assistant rose 85% in one quarter.
For enterprises, this is a powerful combination. Claude does the research, analysis and writing. Canva turns it into on-brand presentations, reports and campaigns that teams can edit and share. But it needs to be set up properly: the right Claude and Canva plans, connectors approved by IT, Brand Kits and templates in place, and clear rules about which data flows between the two.
Generation Digital is a certified partner in Anthropic's Claude Partner Network and a Canva Certified Services Partner. We are one of the few consultancies that can design, secure and train the Claude and Canva workflow end to end.

People are still the biggest unlock
Across our Claude, Asana, Miro and Canva work, the platform is never the hard part. Value comes when people change how they work. A successful Canva AI rollout needs:
A strong sponsor to set the vision and strategy, help drive the rollout and remove blockers.
A brand system first, so AI produces on-brand work from day one.
Clear AI guardrails: which features and connectors are on, for whom, and under which data policy.
Role-based training, because marketers, HR, sales and leaders all use Canva differently.
Champions and measurement, to prove value and build the case for wider rollout.
Recommendations for enterprise leaders
Find your shadow Canva. Ask finance for Canva card and expense spend, and ask IT for sign-ups using company email domains.
Consolidate onto one enterprise agreement. You get security, compliance, brand control and a more cost-effective contract.
Set AI guardrails before you scale, including which connectors can share data with Canva.
Build the brand system first, so AI output is on brand by default.
Connect Canva and Claude deliberately. Approve the connector, map your templates and train people on the workflows.
Lead with people. Name a sponsor, train by role, build champions and measure the time saved.

Frequently asked questions
Is Generation Digital a Canva partner?
Yes. Generation Digital is a Canva Certified Services Partner. We help enterprises and the public sector in the UK, US and Canada buy, roll out and adopt Canva Enterprise and Canva AI.
Is Canva an AI tool?
Yes. Canva is one of the world's most used AI tools. An a16z analysis ranks it the third most-used generative AI web product. Canva AI 2.0, launched in April 2026, creates editable, on-brand designs from a brief and can run multi-step work across connected tools.
Is Canva AI safe for enterprise use?
It can be, when set up on Canva Enterprise. Enterprise adds SSO, admin controls, audit logs, Canva Shield controls over who can use AI features, and IP indemnity for AI output for organisations with 100 or more paid users. Self-serve accounts don't give IT this control.
Why move from self-serve Canva accounts to Canva Enterprise?
Self-serve accounts bought on credit cards are a form of shadow IT. They have no single sign-on, no offboarding, no brand control and no AI governance, and spend is hidden in expenses. One Canva Enterprise agreement, contracted through Generation Digital, fixes this and is usually more cost-effective.
How does Claude work with Canva?
The Canva connector lets Claude users create, edit, resize and search Canva designs and apply their Brand Kit from a Claude conversation. Canva also powers design inside Claude Design by Anthropic Labs. Generation Digital, a partner of both Anthropic and Canva, sets up and secures this integration and trains teams to use it.
What is the difference between Canva Pro, Canva Business and Canva Enterprise?
Canva Pro is for individuals, and Canva Business is for teams. Canva Enterprise is for larger organisations. It adds SSO and SCIM, advanced brand and approval controls, AI controls and indemnity, audit logs, and Canva's enterprise support and services.
What is shadow AI?
Shadow AI is the use of AI tools at work without approval from IT or security. A Microsoft UK study found that 71% of UK employees have used unapproved consumer AI tools at work. Giving people an approved, governed alternative is the most effective response.
Can public sector organisations buy Canva services through G-Cloud?
Yes. Generation Digital is live on G-Cloud 15 with Canva for Work (Pro and Enterprise). UK public sector organisations can buy Canva licences, plus our rollout, training and adoption services, by direct award, without a full tender.
