How to Remove a Team Member from Asana
Sep 10, 2025
Every business will eventually need to handle the departure of a team member or employee. Consequently, it's often necessary to remove Asana accounts or licenses. The top priority is keeping data safe and secure. When it’s time to remove someone from your Asana setup, the process is straightforward and quick.
Here are the steps for an admin to completely remove someone from Asana:
Go to the team settings in the sidebar.
Click on the members tab.
Locate the person you wish to remove and hover over their name.
Click on remove.
Choose remove access.
Click Deprovision.
Once someone is removed from the organization, their tasks are transferred to a project assigned to the admin, who can then reassign them to other active team members. If you don't choose Deprovision, the member will be removed only from that team and not from the entire Asana instance.
If a member remains part of the organization but is removed from a team, they will still have access to their own tasks.
Offboarding an employee can be challenging, but Asana makes revoking access organized and easy. This allows you to dedicate more energy to other aspects of the onboarding process.
