Status updates are essential to keeping every project member on the same page and up to date with how a project is progressing. Asana has an easy way to do this by allowing project members to create an in-software status update that can be shared with everyone in the team.

The dashboard tab within a project allows you to visualize all the needed project data in one place. You can get a quick view of tasks that are a priority, completed, and at-risk along with these, you can also see individuals' workloads.

You will need to select the progress tab to take all this information and more into a shareable status update. Once in the progress tab, dashboard insights and highlights are automatically linked to the work so they can easily be added to your update. Asana will remember the format of your previous work structure, making it easy to provide your team with consistent updates, however often needed. Additional projects, task references, and individuals can be mentioned in the update by using the @ sign.

Once all the information you would like to be included in the update is there, you can share it with the project members by simply clicking post. Once posted, everyone included in the project will get an inbox notification where a discussion on this can continue.

Status updates are a critical factor in working as a team on a project; it allows team members to understand what is going on and the project's progression. Along with this, it can shorten meetings since the members will have all of the information in front of them, so there is no need to do status readouts. The meeting can focus on the crucial details and what the next steps should be.
