The Power of Visual Storytelling

When thinking of some of the world’s most powerful leaders, it is clear that they all had one thing in common: they inspired leadership. The same applies to the role of a leader or manager in an organisation. People choose to follow leaders because of how they make them feel, and stories are proven to be a powerful way to make strong emotional connections with employees.

Appealing to people’s emotions helps new ideas cut through the clutter. Mindy Grossman (CEO, WW) explains that communicating a new vision to all her staff is key to making sure everyone's on board...

Research Supports Connected Executives

More and more research points to the fact that people want and expect accessible and visible leaders. And having accessible and visible leaders is one of the key ways you can retain and attract your top talent. 2 to 1 employees would prefer to work for a CEO that uses digital and social media as part of their work and 93% of employees consider “leadership that communicates directly and transparently with employees” to be important in deciding to stay at their company. Add to this, the fact that people are 3 times more engaged with Connected Leaders on Instagram than Facebook and Twitter. This all strengthens the case for why Executive visibility and accessibility is so important both internally and externally.

However, there is a constant challenge for today’s Executives (and the Communications Professionals who support them) in making sure that employees are engaged (ie. they know the leadership, are aware of company strategy and mostly importantly how they can contribute). After all, organisations that have fully engaged and aligned employees will always outperform those that don't.

Based on this it is critical that CxO leaders and executives find a platform that supports internal communications that will enable them to earn trust, be heard, support feedback, engage employees and build reputation.

Workplace Live Video - The Platform for Connected Executives

Workplace Live Video gives Executives the opportunity to turn their organisations into connected companies with highly engaged workforces. Live Video allowed us  you to broadcast events (large or small) in real-time to anyone who couldn’t be there in person. Then, the Live video automatically posts to your group page so anyone who misses it can catch up later.

Visual content can be much more powerful than words on a screen. Our brain processes images faster than text, which is why most people retain information better through video than through reading. All of this makes video content an incredibly efficient and engaging tool for both external and internal communications. Workplace video features allow you to create engaging content that’s accessible, engaging and timely.

Driving employee engagement in today’s internal machine can be a challenge, but through the use of new communication channels such as Workplace Live, this process can become simplified. Workplace Live is the latest trend in how organisations can effectively communicate through a professional broadcast that allows clear and engaging conversations.

Live video opens up the possibility to directly communicate with your team or entire company quickly and easily wherever they are and on whatever device they are using. Real time comments and reactions throughout the live stream mean instant feedback is consistently at your disposal. Workplace Live also allows you to ‘go live’ from anywhere, giving you and your team access to key information at any time. Now there is no reason why there needs to be a delay in the communication of crucial information for anyone working in a different time zone. Plus the auto-translate feature means that you can now speak to your employees in 46 languages!

Telefonica CEO Mark Evans explains why he is using Workplace from Facebook to keep employees engaged:

Workplace Studios: Case Study

A recent example of Workplace Live positively impacting an organisation’s culture is a £1bn turnover, global services company headquartered in London with 2000 employees spread across 18 countries. The CEO and Head of Communications wanted to use Workplace Live to stream their global staff meeting to share an update on progress and align everyone on the future growth strategy. The client engaged Generation Digital to support them with the end to end management of the event.

The event was professionally recorded on location in front of an audience with 250 of their employees and streamed on Workplace to all employees around the world. The event include a poll to crowdsource questions and build up excitement before the event, updates from regional leaders based around the world, live Q&A to giving everyone in the company a voice and a valuable opportunity to engage and gather feedback of the strategy and it's implementation in different markets around the world.

The level of engagement and quality of feedback far exceeded the clients expectations and justified the investment.
